What is ISO?

ISO Stands for the International Standards Organisation, its headquarters are based in Geneva. It is made up of a group of around 50 member countries around the world with an aim to standardise the way we work or produce a product or service.

Any country can request a standard, the request is made to the head office who then circulate that request to each member country asking for their thoughts and ideas, the result being a draft standard which is altered and goes back and forth until the exact text of the standard is agreed by 76% of the member countries, it then becomes a full standard for the member countries, other countries then adopt the standard if they wish.
